In the African wood carving crafts, Wumu carving is the most precious. It is carved with ebony wood as raw material, with exquisite wood and realistic shapes. African woodcarvers have a lot of artistic talent. After some wonderful ideas, they created art pieces full of African style.
Makongdah wood carving in East Africa is the most attractive of African traditional art. The ancestors of the Makonda tribe lived in the Congolese rainforest and moved to the Rauma Valley in southern Tanzania about 2,000 years ago. It is basically isolated from the outside world,
so that the culture of the Makongda people is protected from external influences and traditional culture and arts are inherited and promoted. Makonda people continue to traditionally educate future generations through wood carving to protect their cultural heritage.
