The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China announced on the 23rd that it will conduct anti-dumping investigations on imported stainless steel billets and stainless steel hot-rolled sheets/rolls originating in the European Union, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia.
The Ministry of Commerce received an application from China's domestic industry on June 22, 2018. After review, the Ministry of Commerce considered that the total output of applicants and supporting applicants in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 accounted for more than 50% of the total output of similar products in China during the same period, in line with relevant regulations, so it was decided to launch anti-dumping cases. survey.
The survey is conducted for one year and can be extended to one and a half years in special cases.
Stainless steel billets and stainless steel hot rolled sheets/rolls are usually used in two applications, either as cold rolled stainless steel or as a final product, mainly in the marine, container, railway, electric power, petroleum, petrochemical and other industries.
According to official data, in 2017, China imported more than 703,000 tons of stainless steel billets and stainless steel hot-rolled sheets/rolls, of which 869,000 tons were imported from the EU, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia, accounting for 98% of the total imports of the products under investigation. The amount is close to three times that of 2016.
